Nevindex is an editorial reference on two subjects that decide most photographs: composition and natural light. The writing is plain and practical, aimed at people improving everyday photography rather than studio specialists.

What this site covers

The articles stay within a narrow scope on purpose. They cover framing and balance, how daylight changes from dawn to dusk, and small techniques for working with the light already in a room or a street. Examples are drawn from ordinary situations, with Canadian conditions in mind, such as long overcast stretches and the wide seasonal swing in daylight hours.

How it is written

Content is kept factual and neutral. Where exact figures depend on location and season, the text says so rather than inventing a single number. Background references point to publicly available sources such as Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.

Images

Photographs throughout the site come from Wikimedia Commons and are used under their Creative Commons licenses. Each image is captioned with its source.
